VCC, SVCC to Host Co-op Career Exploration Expo

Following the Co-op Month breakfast, Council members and educational partners will host booths at a Career Exploration Expo for middle and high school students from the 10 counties served by SVCC.

“We’re excited to have SVCC sponsoring this event, which will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30,” says Council President Dustin Francis of Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative, who also chairs VCC’s Co-op Month Committee. “Much like our 2023 event, Virginia co-ops will share information about their cooperative, including potential career opportunities.”

Participants include Farm Credit organizations serving Southside Virginia, Virginia’s electric cooperatives, Virginia Farm Bureau, Rockingham Cooperative, Southern States Cooperative, Southside Virginia Community College Power Line Worker Program and Virginia Tech Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics.
